A lot of married friends have told me that you don’t notice all the details of a wedding until you start planning one yourself. Mr. Eel and I had the pleasure of attending a friend’s wedding this past weekend,铁算盘心水论坛刘佰温, and as the good blogger bee that I am, I took note of all the wedding details. The couple also had a lot of good ideas that I could use for our wedding.

1. Centerpieces. The couple chose to do a three-centerpiece arrangement in varying sizes with gerbera daisies, hydrangea, and roses. The bride purchased the mason jars and tied the ribbons herself. This helped her saved on her floral budget because the florist would have otherwise charged her to purchase the mason jars (often a load more than the actual cost of mason jars), as well as for labor to tie the ribbons. In Hawaii, guests take home the centerpieces for the majority of weddings; they are usually gifted to friends and family that helped the couple. The bride had so many centerpieces that each couple was able to take home a set.

Wedding takeaway: Although it may be easier to hire someone to put together your wedding centerpieces, it’s also more expensive. Doing the labor/prep work?yourself can save you some money.

2. Table Numbers. The couple’s stationery vendor created the table numbers out of?card stock folded into a?triangle that created a three-paneled stand. The other panels included the names of the members of their bridal party, vendors, and lunch buffet menu. As a planning bride, I loved having the names of their vendors!

Wedding takeaway: Otherwise simple wedding elements can be repurposed. Including the menu on the table numbers saved the couple from printing individual menus for each guest, saving on their overall stationery budget.

Personal Photo // Simple but elegant favors

3. Favors. The favors were three heart-shaped cookies in a clear plastic pillow box. The couple added a sheer blue ribbon and “thank you” tag that coordinated with the other stationery used throughout the wedding.

Wedding takeaway: An otherwise plain boxed?favor can be dressed up with?some simple?decorations, and it doesn’t have to cost much either. I thought these favors were really pretty and matched their décor well. Like this couple, Mr. Eel and I don’t plan to go over the top when it comes to favors.

Personal Photo // Drool-worthy wedding cake

4. Wedding Cake. The couple had an absolutely beautiful three-tiered wedding cake with what looked like hand painted flowers on the top two tiers. Since their buffet offered dessert, they didn’t serve wedding cake to the guests.

Wedding takeaway: While a three-tiered cake is nice,一季度, we’ll be serving our guests dessert and don’t need something that large. This is another potential area to save on the budget.

Have you learned anything from the weddings you’ve attended since starting your own wedding plans?
